James was the 3rd child of Jacob and Ingeborg and was born at the Dakota Territory homestead on September 26th, 1873 and died in a hospital in Sioux Falls in 1943.
James seems to have led rather a solitary life. While his other unmarried siblings remained on the family farm, he purchased his own farm the next county over in South Dakota. There are few photos or family accounts of James. Most of his siblings are buried at the country Norwegian church by Jacob and Ingeborg. For some reason, James is buried in a mausoleum in Minneapolis and no one knows why.
