I've also started asking my mom more questions about holidays past as we experience the holidays of the present. On Thanksgiving, I had asked her what she remembered about those gatherings from her youth. She didn't really remember anything specific, but she quickly began sharing other happy memories of when she was young. For that, I was truly thankful.
